Terms of Use

These Terms govern your use of Distil ("the Service"), operated by Curiosum Limited (NZBN 9429037423292), a company registered in New Zealand ("we", "us"). By using Distil you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. Who can use Distil
You must be at least 16 years old. If you use Distil for an employer or other organisation, you confirm you're authorised to accept these Terms on their behalf.
2. What Distil does
Distil tailors a master CV and a job description into a tailored CV and cover letter. Distil is in beta: features may change, pause, or break, and we don't promise any particular availability.
3. Your account
Sign-in is passwordless, via Google or a one-time email link. Keep access to your email account secure. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
4. AI-generated output
The documents Distil produces are generated by automated systems. They may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies, and they are not professional, legal, or career advice. You are responsible for reviewing everything before you send or rely on it. The final content is yours and your decision.
5. Your content and intellectual property
You keep ownership of the CV content you provide and the documents Distil generates for you. You grant us a limited licence to store and process that content solely to provide the Service. You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload, and that you won't upload another person's personal information without a proper basis.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use Distil unlawfully, don't upload other people's data without authority, and don't attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or abuse the Service or the third-party providers that power it.
7. Availability and "as is"
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where they apply. Where you use the Service in trade, you agree those Acts' guarantees are excluded to the extent the law allows.
8. Fees
Distil is free during beta. We'll give you notice before introducing any charges.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make based on AI-generated output. Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act and Fair Trading Act are preserved.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end access if these Terms are breached. You can stop using Distil and delete your account at any time.
11. Privacy
Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we make a material change, we'll ask you to agree again before you continue. Continued use after notice means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.
